The Annual Zone Hockey Tournament 2006
By Craig
Wentworth High’s Annual trip to the Zone Hockey Tournament was very successful for it’s team who for the fourth year took back our trophy that now rests with the other trophies in the headmaster’s office. The brilliant athletes of the Wentworth High School team were:
Craig,
Anthony,
Joe,
Jason,
Joshua,
James and
Daniel.
We had been training for weeks in the Friday lunch club and when the day arrived we were well prepared to take back the trophy we lost last year. This year we faced three teams in six rounds.
The first team Brentwood Manor we played extremely well winning an enormous 14-0 and then again in round 4 we beat them again 9-2.
The next team we played was New Bridge we had to work a great deal harder against them the score ended up at: 8-1 Then again we played them in round 5 which was just as challenging but we still won with a final score of: 3 -2 but nothing compared to the last team.
This team was the team that beat us last year, they were the ones we knew were going to be our toughest opponents and this years rivals The Lancastrians. Both matches against them were extremely challenging and we pushed ourselves to our limits. With the first match score being: 3-3. Despite the draw we pushed on and in an amazing, almost epic match in the finals we won with a score of: 3-2.
