Drama Department
The staffing for the drama department consists of:
One full time teacher of Drama – the main teaching focus being key stage 4 GCSE Drama and the BTEC first certificate in Performing Arts (performance) courses.
At key stage three students are taught Drama once every two weeks. At key stage four, years 10 and 11 take five Drama lessons every two weeks (5 x 60 minute lessons). In years 10 and 11 Drama is only taught to pupils who chose this as one of their GCSE options.
Intake at GCSE and BTEC is approximately 50 students at year 11 and 25 at year 10.
Both the GCSE and BTEC Performance courses follow the EDEXCEL specifications which allow flexibility in their delivery permitting the teacher to structure the courses accordingly. Spatial awareness, voice projection, body language, directing, writing / devising plays, performing and history of theatre are examples of educational diversity.
