Salford South School Sports Partnership

The partnership, launched in September 2006, is one of around 450 throughout the country, with the Partnership Development Manager based at Wentworth High School.  It is made up of 8 mainstream secondary schools, 2 special secondary schools, 41 primary schools, 4 pupil referral units and one hospital school.  To see which schools are in the Partnership, click here.

To see activities prior to September, please look on the right hand menu.

The aim is to work towards the Government’s target of increasing the number of pupils who take part in at least 2 hours of high quality PE and school sport each week, with 7 outcomes driving the work of the Partnership Development Manager (PDM) and School Sports Co-ordinators (SSCo’s):

  • Increased participation in high quality PE
  • Increased participation in high quality out of hours learning (OSHL)
  • Increased participation in high quality informal activity
  • Increased participation in high quality competition and performance
  • Improved attitude behaviour and attendance in PE, sport and whole school
  • Increased attainment and achievement in and through PE, OSHL and sport
  • Increased participation in community based sport

To achieve this, each SSCo will work with a number of schools on specific projects, making links with wide range of local groups and clubs and linking into national programmes and initiatives.  The SSCo’s are:

Stacey Feddy at Beis Yaakov Jewish High School
Mike Dunnington at Chatsworth High Community Special School
(tba) at Harrop Fold High School
Paul  Rigby at Irlam & Cadishead Community High School
(tba) at Moorside High School
Simon Evans at Salford City Academy
Paul Thompson at St Patrick’s RC High School
Nicola Hunter-Dale at Walkden High School
Liz Bull at Wentworth High School

Howard Shore is the Partnership Development Manager and can be contacted by e-mailing howard.shore@salford.gov.uk or calling 921-2069.

More information will be posted on this site in the next term, including reports on events and activities, profile of the SSCo’s and useful information for all partner schools.
