PGL activity trip to France
It had been a long time planning, and it seemed even longer in anticipation, but the PGL trip to the South of France over the summer holidays completely surpassed all expectations!

The clearest reason for this was the amazing way that our pupils approached everything during the time away. They had to endure over 24 hours on a coach and did so without any moaning. No sooner had they arrived at Club Mimosa, and had dumped their bags in their tents, than they were straight into the Mediterranean. The action and fun did not end from this point till the very end. I could go on for pages in telling you all the highlights but I’ll leave it to the words of some of the pupils to give you just a taste of the adventure.
Mr Brophy

“I have met new people and made new friends”
“My holiday was awesome. We did loads of cool things like banana boat, snorkelling and kayaking. Aqualand was probably the best, as some of the slides were amazing”.
“South of France was well good. There were some top memories, like when we buried Sam Fenn! That was well funny and also when I was on the banana boat and I fell off!”
“My holiday to the South of France was really good. Every activity brought the best out of me and I really enjoyed it. The staff were really nice and I loved the evening entertainment”
“This experience to the South of France was unforgettable. I’m sure that nobody went home without remembering something that was good. Many of us, if not all of us, have done something that we’ve never done before.”
Our trip to the South of France was one of those holidays where we all went home and rambled on about it for hours to our parents and guardians. Being a watersports trip, each day was packed with activities such as kayaking, sailing in picos, fun boats and catamarans, riding on the ocean rider, snorkelling, windsurfing, rock climbing and abseiling which were followed by an evening activity, where it always got messy in some way, shape or form, and a disco where we were allowed to socialise not only amongst ourselves but with other schools and parties too. The camp was clean and spacious and the tents were ideal with comfy but creaky beds. I think we all found that we all got along really well considering that there were only two girls in comparison to thirty two boys and we even managed to make friends with people who we hadn’t even spoken to before. Also the teachers are completely different when they are not in school which meant that we all had a laugh and fun. The whole experience was made complete by our village leaders, Colin and Barbie. There would have been no daily water fights, robot wars, get your own back, have a go show, talent show or beach Olympics without them, which I think they deserve a lot of credit for.

So, to conclude, the holiday to Mimosa couldn’t have been any better except for the long twenty four hour coach journey where, by the time we were half way back, we were all craving a good old KFC! This holiday was one of the best holidays I’ve ever been on and I think that I am speaking on behalf of everyone who went. Hopefully we can go again next year and have a repeat of the ball of a time we had this year. Thank you to all of the teachers who went and to Mr Brophy for making it happen.
