News from Connexions.

WHO ARE CONNEXIONS?

Connexions is a service for all young people aged 13-19 years old or up to 25 years old if they have a learning difficulty or disability. The service provides information, advice and guidance on routes into education, training and employment. Personal Advisers also support young people who maybe facing difficulties around homelessness, drugs, teenage pregnancy and /or benefit issues. We also advertise jobs vacancies and voluntary and leisure activities for young people who may want to get more involved in the local community.

The Personal Advisers in Wentworth High are Les Tandy and Emma Al-Hakim. In school we are based in room 63. You can also contact us at the Salford Connexions Centre on 0161 743 0163. We see all year 11 pupils for 1:1 interviews to discuss their plans after school. We will help pupils to apply for college, jobs or training opportunities. We also attend reviews with pupils in years 9,10 and 11.

CONNEXIONS UPDATE
College Interviews
Hopefully all pupils who applied to Eccles College have now had their college interviews. Pendleton College have invited pupils to attend interviews in college after school. Any pupils who are still awaiting dates for college interviews or have missed their interview should phone Emma or Les at Connexions in Salford on 0161 743 0163 or contact College Admissions:

Pendleton College: 0161 278 3325
Eccles College: 0161 789 5876
Salford College: 0161 211 5001

Apprenticeships
Interviews are still taking place. If you are still awaiting an interview, contact Emma or Les.

Reminder
It is not too late to apply for college or for an apprenticeship. Also jobs are advertised in school, in Connexions centres and on the Connexions website www.connexions-salford.com for any young people who are interested.

Don’t forget Emma and Les will be contacting all year 11 pupils throughout the summer and up to October to offer any further help or advice. We will also be in school on results day should you need any last minute guidance.

Years 9 and 10
We haven’t forgotten you! We are planning to see a number of year 9 and 10 pupils for individual introductory Connexions interviews this term. We are in the process of completing introduction to connexions group work sessions with year 10 pupils.
