The ICT Department is pleased to say that there is a growing interest in the ICT club. This runs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes and is open to all year groups. Demand has been so high lately that for the last two weeks there have been more people wanting to come than there has been room for. If pupils want to come to ICT Club they should make sure they see Miss Patel or Mrs Barrow before school or at break to get a pass. They will not be allowed in without a pass.
Miss Patel is also running CC4G (Computer Club for Girls) on Wednesday lunchtimes. This is initially offered to Year 9 pupils but may be available for other year groups later. There are structured activities on the CC4G website and various freebies are sent by CC4G.
In addition to the lunchtime clubs, ICT1 is available for use for coursework between 3:30 and 4:30 on Tuesdays. This is not just for ICT coursework but for anyone who wishes to complete coursework using the facilities in ICT1. Should pupils not be able to attend on Tuesdays they should see Mrs Barrow to see if another time is possible.
The launch of SAM Learning with Year 11 has been a success. Last month more pupils from Wentworth used SAM Learning than the average for all other Salford Schools. Well done Year 11. Keep it up!
Year 9 pupils will also want to start using SAM Learning soon as preparation for their SATs. Don’t forget that SAM Learning can be used anywhere you have Internet access and not only at school. Research has shown that pupils who use SAM Learning can expect improved results at Key Stage 3 and at GCSE. If you need more details of how to access this valuable resource, please contact Mrs Barrow. |
