Mr Leese recently left us after many years at Wentworth High School. The Science Faculty would like to thank Mr Leese for all of his hard work and commitment over the years. Mr Leese was a fantastic teacher who had a positive, long lasting effect on many of the pupils he taught. We would like to remember some of Mr Leese’s greatest achievements at Wentworth.
Who can forget the time Mr Leese organised a balloon race for charity. Certainly not air traffic control, who Mr Leese forgot to inform. Incidentally, the science department is still using the same TSB balloons ten years later!
Or the time that, during Russian Day, Mr Leese set off so many rockets that the terrified neighbours had to phone the police!
Or the time he deafened some prospective parents exploding a Hydrogen balloon, which was heard in the staff room. Mr Leese was in Room 6 at the time!
Or Mr Leese teaching juggling on the year seven field trips, and setting up the school juggling club.
Or how he ran the Rural Studies group, perhaps better known as Diggin’.
Or how he silenced all of the rumours by marrying Mrs Brooks the Maths Teacher.
Or how he appeared in various cabaret performances at the carol service and school disco, making a very fetching Red Head from ABBA, the Policeman from the Village People and, most frighteningly, Scary Spice!
You will all have your own memories of Mr Leese. Mine is of his prowess in the centre of defence during Friday night football. I would like to, on behalf of the Science Faculty, wish Mr Leese a long and healthy retirement.
Thanks Dave.
